Today Bill will be doing a special ride! Our grandsons
Judah, 12 and Asher, 10 are riding their bicycles with Bill here in Wheatland ,
WY . When they found out that their Pepe was
bicycling across America
to say Thank-You to police officers, firefighters, and military, they wanted to
be involved too. They worked hard hauling earth and rocks, doing some
landscaping, and taking care of people’s animals to earn enough money to buy
bicycles and helmets. When the bikes arrived, their dad, Jacob Adamo, put them
together for them and they started practicing for their big ride. A few days
later, we rode into town. Judah and Asher spent the night before the ride
sleeping in the camper so we could get an early start without waking their
brothers and sisters. They were excited to get started early the next morning.
They put on their helmets, put their water bottles in the cages and were off!
Tummies started to cramp the first 2 miles, but with some recovery time, they were back at it.
Bill kept them to his right for most of the ride and they were soon in the zone and riding along great.
5 miles turned to 10 and
they decided they wanted to go the whole distance. Their Meme drove the truck and
stopped about every mile to make sure everyone was watered and okay.
After
cycling for 2 ½ hours and a distance of 14.5 miles, the time was getting close
to make the appointment with the Wheatland Police Department. Bill loaded up
their bikes and we drove the next few miles to meet with the Chief. One of the
officers showed them all the ins and outs of their new police car and they
tried on a swat helmet and bullet-proof vest.
They were given patches, shook
hands and said Thank-You and we continued on to the Wheatland Fire Department.
The president gave them a tour of their new fire truck and they were very
impressed.
So many gauges and switches!
They received patches, coins, and hats
from the Chief and Judah and Asher made sure to thank them for what they do for
us.
We stopped at the Sheriff’s Department next and talked with the Sheriff and
the Undersheriff. The Sheriff’s Department has an amazing supply of snacks and
they offered our grandsons their pick. We took a picture and they said
Thank-You and shook hands.
The Undersheriff gave them patches and they were so
impressed by all they saw. We drove them to within 2.5 miles from home and took
out the bicycles and they rode with Bill all the way home. Their family was on
the porch and applauded them as they rode into the yard.
Everyone spent some
time under the sprinkler and another memory was made. Bill and Debra Morin from
Twice Across America will continue across the country with a goal of 4,500
miles and many, many Thank-Yous. Follow us on Facebook and our blog,

Well, that's a surprise! I crossed paths with Bill while out pedaling, and he told me the blog name, but I wasn't expecting to see Clyde and Grady and all the other Wheatland celebrities, too! I'll follow along!
