We said a tearful good-bye to our dear grandchildren. We had
a great ride yesterday and look forward to the next time we get to see them
again. Bill pedaled off about 8:15
today after doing all the necessary tasks outside while I stowed away
everything inside. I walked to the truck and blew one last kiss into the wind
to Judah who was seeing me off and it was on to Guernsey ,
WY , and ultimately Lusk ,
WY for today. Then we will get on Highway
20 heading east to continue saying Thank-You to police officers, firefighters,
and military across the country. We have had many people ask if we are retired.
Bill left his job and we took our small savings to start this. We have received
donations from friends and family to continue on and greatly appreciate these
gifts. We have a fundraiser going on at Generosity.com and that has been very
helpful. So if you would like to be a part of the Thank-You tour, click on the
link. Right now, I’m sitting by the
side of the road waiting for Bill doing his first set of the day. It looks like
some headwinds are kicking up but we’ll be changing direction soon. When Bill
pedaled up, I asked him about the headwinds. He said he didn’t notice the
headwinds, just his heavy heart. We hugged for a few minutes and both headed
out once again. The next pull off I found was next to a historical marker.
TheOregon
Trail was out this way and Register Cliff that the
pioneers wrote their names on is also near here.
Took a few pictures and waited
for Bill. Road construction, words that are hard to hear; I had to go 12 more
miles than the original 10 and finally found a dirt spot on the side of the
road to carefully turn around in so I would be headed in the right direction. This is what Bill sees as he's pedaling up.
The wind has quit and it’s so quiet out here. Bill called to let me know that
he has just started into the road construction and will probably be here in an
hour. Think I will get some lunch ready for him. We ate lunch and headed out once more. After doing 63 miles in the heat and dealing with construction and rough road, we drove the 7 miles to Prairie View Campground for some much needed rest. Thank-you for reading.
